How to install a Modular Lighting Multiple recessed spotlight?

Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless inbouwspotsThe Modular Lighting Multiple is a series of minimalist recessed spotlights. The Multiple spotlights are available in numerous varieties. There are single and multiple models, trimless models and also smaller variants (Mini-Multiple).

There are a few accessories available for the installation of the Modular Lighting Multiple spotlights:

  • Modular Lighting Multiple Conbox: The Conboxes are used for recessing spotlights in solid surfaces (concrete, block and beam).
  • Modular Lighting Mulitple Gypkit: The Gypkits are used together with the Conboxes for non-trimless installations. The Gypkit (frame) is used as a finish for the recessed Conbox.
  • Modular Lighting Multiple Recessed Frame: The Recessed Frames are used for trimless installations. The Recessed Frames are adjustable in height to level them with the ceiling. In solid surfaces, they are used together with the Conboxes.

Depending on the type of Modular Lighting Multiple spotlight and the kind of surface you’re dealing with, you need to use a different installation method. We’ll list up all methods below.

Modular Lighting Multiple in hollow ceiling

For the installation of a Modular Lighting Multiple spotlight in a drywall or wooden hollow ceiling, you don’t need any additional accessories (no Multiple Conbox or Multiple Gykit).

  1. Check the required recessed dimensions and saw out the recessed hole.

  2. Turn the buttons inside the Multiple spotlight counter-clockwise to loosen the mounting brackets. This is necessary to get the spotlight through the recessed hole.

  3. Connect the spot before mounting it into the recessed hole.

  4. Press the mounting brackets against the fixture and mount it in the recessed hole.

  5. Secure the mounting cables by turning the buttons on the inside of the fixture clockwise.

  6. Put the bulbs in the Multiple recessed spot.

Modular Lighting Multiple in solid ceiling

For the installation of a Modular Lighting Multiple spotlight in a solid concrete ceiling, you need two additional accessories (Multiple Conbox and Multiple Gypkit).

  1. Put the Modular Lighting Multiple Conbox in its place before the concrete gets cast. This way you’ll automatically have the right recessed hole.

  2. Attach the accompanying Multiple Gypkit to the already recessed Conbox.

  3. Finish off with plastering, to make the frame of the Gypkit disappear.

  4. Turn the buttons inside the Multiple spotlight counter-clockwise to loosen the fixation brackets. This is necessary to get the spotlight through the recessed hole.

  5. Connect the spotlight before mounting it into the recessed hole.

  6. Push the fixation brackets against the fixture and place it in the recessed hole.

  7. Fasten the fixation brackets by turning the buttons inside the fixture clockwise.

  8. Place lamps in the Multiple recessed spotlight. Vooraleer het beton gegoten wordt, moet de Modular Lighting Multiple Conbox worden geplaatst om het juiste inbouwgat in het betonnen plafond te voorzien.

Modular Lighting Multiple in block and beam ceiling

For the installation of a Modular Lighting Multiple spotlight in a block and beam ceiling, you need two additional accessories (Multiple Conbox and Multiple Gypkit).

  1. Check the required recessed dimensions and cut out.

  2. Break the inside ribs of the block and beam ceiling and remove them.

  3. Insert and fasten the Multiple Conbox in the recessed hole.

  4. Fasten the Multiple Gypkit in front of the installed Multiple Conbox.

  5. Plaster to hide the frame of the Gypkit.

  6. Turn the buttons on the inside of the Multiple spotlight counter-clockwise to loosen the fixation brackets. This is necessary to get the spotlight through the recessed hole.

  7. Make the electrical connection before mounting the spotlight.

  8. Push the fixation brackets against the fixture and place it in the recessed hole.

  9. Fasten the fixation cables by turning the buttons on the inside clockwise.

  10. Place lamps in the Multiple recessed spotlight.

Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless in hollow ceiling

For the installation of Modular Multiple Trimless in a drywall or wooden hollow ceiling, you need one additional accessory, being the Modular Recessed Frame.

  1. Check the required recessed dimensions and saw the hole.

  2. Insert the Recessed Frame in the recessed hole.

  3. Fix the Recessed Frame by turning the screws through the perforated brackets of the Recessed Frame.

  4. Adjust the Recessed Frame until it is flush with the ceiling.

  5. Finish with plaster and paint.

  6. Make the electrical connection before inserting the spotlight in the hole.

  7. Use the buttons on the inside to fix the Multiple Trimless to the Recessed Frame (left).

  8. Use the buttons on the inside to fix the Multiple Trimless to the Recessed Frame (right).

  9. Place lamps in your Multiple spotlight.

Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless in solid ceiling

For the installation of a Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless spotlight in a solid concrete ceiling, you need to additional accessories: the Multiple Trimless Conbox and the Multiple Trimless Gypkit (frame for Conbox).

  1. The Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless Conbox needs to be in its place before the concrete is cast. This way you’ll always have the perfect recessed hole.

  2. Install the Recessed Frame in the Multiple Trimless Conbox.

  3. Adjust the height of the Recessed Frame until it’s flush with the thickness of the plastering. Finish with plaster. Keep in mind that the thickness of the plastering may vary between different spots on the ceiling. Keep this in mind while adjusting your Recessed Frame.

  4. Make the electrical connection before mounting the spotlight.

  5. Use the buttons on the inside to fix the Multiple Trimless to the Recessed Frame (left).

  6. Use the buttons on the inside to fix the Multiple Trimless to the Recessed Frame (right).

  7. Place your lamps.

Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless in a beam and block ceiling

For the installation of a Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless spotlight in a beam and block ceiling you need two additional accessories: the Multiple Trimless Conbox and the Multiple Trimless Gypkit (frame for Conbox).

  1. The Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless Conbox needs to be put in its place before the concrete is cast. This way you’ll always have a perfect recessed hole.

  2. Install the Recessed Frame in the Multiple Trimless Conbox.

  3. Adjust the Recessed Frame until it’s flush with the thickness of the plastering. Finish with some more plaster. Keep in mind that plastering can differ in thickness throughout the room, check this when adjusting the Recessed Frame.

  4. Make the electrical connection before mounting the spotlight.

  5. Use the inside buttons to fix the Multiple Trimless to the Recessed Frame (left side).

  6. Use the inside buttons to fix the Multiple Trimless to the Recessed Frame (right side).

  7. Place lamps in your Multiple Trimless.

Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless in hollow ceiling without Recessed Frame

A Modular Lighting Multiple Trimless spotlight can also be installed without using the Recessed Frame. To do so, you need a paste instead of screws to secure the spotlight.

  1. Check the required recessed dimensions and cut out.

  2. Insert the Modular spotlight in the recessed hole.

  3. Use paste to secure the spotlight. Don’t use any screws, they’ll stay visible after installation.

  4. Adjust the height of the spotlight with the screws on the inside. Make sure the spotlight is flush with the ceiling surface.

  5. Place lamps in your fixture.

Modular Lighting Mini Multiple Trimless in a hollow ceiling

For the installation of a Modular Lighting Mini Multiple Trimless spotlight in a drywall or wooden hollow ceiling you need one additional accessory, the Modular Recessed Frame.

  1. Check the required recessed dimensions and cut out the hole.

  2. Place the Recessed Frame in the recessed hole.

  3. Adjust the Recessesed Frame until it’s flush with the ceiling.

  4. Fixate the Recessed frame by turning screws through the perforated brackets of the Recessed Frame.

  5. Plaster the ceiling and paint.

  6. Connect the driver to the power feed.

  7. Insert the Modular Mini Multiple fixture into the Recessed Frame. Make sure the openings of the fixture match up with the position of the springs in the Recessed Frame. Push the fixture into the Frame until you hear a ‘click’.

Modular Lighting Mini Multiple Trimless in a solid ceiling

For the installation of a Modular Lighting Mini Multiple Trimless spotlight in a solid concrete ceiling you need two additional accessories, the Multiple Conbox and the Multiple Gypkit.

  1. Put the Modular Lighting Mini Multiple Trimless Conbox in its place before the concrete is cast. This way you’ll always have a perfect recessed hole.

  2. Insert the Recessed Frame into the Multiple Trimless Conbox.

  3. Adjust the Recessed Framae to the thickness of the plaster. Pay attention, the thickness of the plaster can vary throughout the room. Keep this in mind while adjusting the Recessed Frame.

  4. Plaster the ceiling and paint.

  5. Connect the driver to the power feed.

  6. Insert the Modular Mini Multiple fixture into the Recessed Frame. Make sure the openings of the fixture match with the position of the springs in the Recessed Frame. Press the fixture into the frame until you hear a “click”.
